The Power of Intention

We’ve all heard about the law of attraction but few people know enough about it to use it consciously in their everyday lives.

Intention is a key ingredient in making the law of attraction work and refers to focusing your mind on a desired outcome or reality.

What people don’t realize is that intention sets in motion many things that are invisible to our naked eyes.  Intention has a the power to affect the very fabric of our reality.

When you set your intention y0u are aligning with the energy (frequency) of whatever you are thinking about.  Once you align with it mentally, you bring its energy into your life – you attract it.   When you align your thinking with passionate emotion, you super-charge this energy to attract it even more.

Intention is the first step in consciously attracting whatever it is you desire in your life.

Here’s a story of how I used intent to attract more business:

After taking a sabbatical to write my book, Awaken Your Power, which is about the law of attraction, I returned to my career as a mortgage loan officer.   Even though I had been doing home loans for over 20 years, upon my return from my leave of absence I discovered that my business had atrophied.   The Realtors who had worked with me in the past where now referring their clients to other loan officers, and many of my past clients had since refinanced with other loan officers.  Basically, life continued on in my absence from the industry.

When I returned, all I kept hearing about was how difficult the Real Estate market was in California and how challenging it was to make a living doing home loans.  I had just completed writing my book, and knew the law of attraction too well to allow others’ thinking to affect my perception of reality or my intention to succeed.

I set my intention, or focus, on success.   My goal was to fill up my loan pipeline with 20 new loans within the first 3 months.  The  CEO of our company told me that, on average, most loan officers were only closing 1 to 2 loans a month, so he agreed my goal was a lofty one for someone just re-entering the business.

I remembered how it felt in the past when I was very successful doing home loans and I replayed that feeling every day to myself over and over again.  Each day I imagined seeing my loan pipeline reports full with loans in process.

I also expected the business to come in the door.  I was using the Focus, Feel, and Expect Process outlined in my book, Awaken Your Power.

Each day I also added actions that complimented my intention.  I went to call on a handful of Realtors I used to work with, and I sent out a newsletter to some of my past clients informing them that I was back in the business.  I also got on the phone and started calling friends and family that I thought might be looking to refinance or purchase a home.  My parents had taught me at an early age that success comes easier to people who work at it.

Within a month of going back to work, I began to see the effects of my intention working.  Clients started coming to me and Realtors started calling me asking if I was still in the business.  Ironically, most of the clients who came to me where not the ones I had been soliciting.  I was getting walk-ins at the office who didn’t know me but were looking for a home loan.  Also, past clients were calling me.  Most of these clients were people who I had lost contact with over the years, but they had remembered me and looked me up on Google.  What’s ironic is that I didn’t get many calls like this during the time I took off to write the book. It was like there was some sort of invisible force that was bringing me clients.  Imagine that!

After 3 months I had brought in 20 loans which totaled over 5 million dollars worth of Real Estate sales volume.  My intention had worked.  Goal achieved!  What I then found is that I had more work than I could handle by myself – a nice problem to have, especially in a tough market.

Next, I set my intention on getting the right type of help.  I needed my own processor and an assistant.  Hiring these staff members is like putting the cart before the horse. You need enough business to hire these people but you often need these people to allow you enough time to do the necessary amount of business.  The 20 loans in the pipeline gave me the confidence to decide to hire the help.

I could pay the salaries of these new employees myself but I wanted to get more of a win-win situation. Again I set my intention and saw myself being profitable while having the help and free time to do more business.

About a month later, the CEO approached me and said he knew of a loan officer with an assistant and a processor and she was looking for another seasoned loan officer to share her expenses with.  This turned out to be a perfect arrangement for me.  It was high value and low cost.  I got the use of the her assistant and a processor, which means I had the help to do more loans at a more efficient pace.  It also meant the loan officer who I was sharing office with got a seasoned loan officer (me) to share in her office overhead.  It was a win-win situation for both of us.   The law of attraction had worked yet again!

I hope you have enjoyed this story about applying intent.  Life will always have its up and down times but having tools like intention and the law of attraction make it possible to consciously overcome these challenges and achieve your own lofty goals.

So what do you want to set your intent on attracting into your life?
